Choose import default

This step allows you to choose how the default import action for each mapping is determined. The method for determining property conflicts is described below.

Choose one of the following:

  • Don’t import — the default action will be set to Ignore for all mappings.

  • Import only mappings that don’t already exist — if there is no existing mapping with the same name, set the action to Add; otherwise set it to Ignore.

  • Merge mappings without property conflicts — any mapping that matches an existing mapping and has a property conflict is set to Ignore; other mappings are set to Add or Merge and retain as appropriate.

  • Merge mappings, retaining existing properties — any mapping that matches an existing mapping is set to Merge and retain; other mappings are set to Add.

  • Merge mappings, replacing properties with new values — any mapping that matches an existing mapping is set to Merge and replace; other mappings are set to Add.

The $document mapping is treated differently. Its action is set to Ignore for Don’t import or Merge and retain for the other options.

If a mapping cannot be imported because it has a different class to the existing mapping its action is set to Ignore.
