Sidenotes

A sidenote is a block of text and/or graphics rendered within a sidenote block adjacent to a line of text called the sidenote anchor line.

Typical uses of sidenotes include:

  • Short headings, numbers or labels sitting outside the text column (for example, a paragraph number)

  • Annotations of the reference text (for example, a reference to the source of a quotation)

  • Aligning two blocks of related material (for example, positioning a diagram adjacent to text referring to that diagram)

The default sidenote style is applied by the $sidenote mapping.

Sidenote content is assigned from the Notes area of the Mapping Editor Content tab (see Notes group” for details).
