Running Feet

A running foot is a continuation block output at the bottom of a data column and which indicates that a running head is still active at that point on the page.

Running feet are styled using the $pagerunfoot and $colrunfoot mappings. Where a level 1 running head is in force and running feet are enabled for the current page layout then:

  • the content of the $pagerunfoot mapping will appear at the bottom of the last column on the page.

  • the content of the $colrunfoot will appear at the bottom of all other columns.

[Note] Note

The $pagerunfoot and $colrunfoot mappings are processed when an active level 1 running head is rendered, not when a column or page ends.

The content of a running foot is not determined by what is assigned to the running heads, nor by the number of running head levels currently defined.
