Running Feet

It is sometimes useful to indicate that the current column text continues on the following page/column. This can be achieved using the special mappings $pagerunfoot and $colrunfoot. The content displayed in a running foot, such as “Continued next page” is entirely determined by the mapping. It is not affected by what is assigned to the running heads, nor is it affected by which levels of running head are defined.

The only difference between the two is that $pagerunfoot appears at the bottom of the last column of the page, while $colrunfoot (when defined) appears on any other columns. The appearance of running feet can also be controlled by the current page layout.

[Warning] Warning

The content of a running foot cannot be changed during composition. Any variables used in the running foot content should be defined at the start of the composition run. Changing these variables during composition may lead to unpredictable results.
