Error messages

Error messages typically consist of a number and an explanatory message. Common errors include:

  • File errors: These can occur when a file cannot be found, cannot be read, written, or created. Check that the file or folder referenced exists, and that you have permission to read and write files within the partition.

  • XML errors: TopLeaf is not an XML or SGML validator. It implicitly assumes that any document presented to it is valid. Check that the source content is valid.

  • Typesetting errors: These errors can occur when the dimensions of a graphic exceed the current block dimensions, if the available block measure is not wide enough to support a paragraph style request, or when the depth of an unbreakable region exceeds the available block depth. These errors are the hardest to eliminate, as they may manifest only in particular page sizes or with particular source material.
