Variables in text

You can use variables within the ordinary text of custom content. A simple example is an accumulating counter:

<set var="Count" value="{Count}+1" />{Count}

which emits the strings 1, 2, 3 etc. each time the mapping is invoked. Note that variables expanded in text are always evaluated as strings, never as values.

Another common use of variables in text is to emit text strings that were saved in earlier mappings from attribute values or element content. This is possible because (user) variables defined in one mapping are available to all subsequent mappings.
