The <link-folio/> command

When processing a full looseleaf link line, generates the folio identifier for the front page of the following leaf and inserts it into the page. If called from the last leaf in a partition, the folio identifier is assembled from the Link ID and Link Folio partition indicators.

Where allowed

Within a link line mapping referenced by a full looseleaf partition.

If yes, the section prefix for the following leaf is included in the folio identifier. If no the prefix is not included. The default is yes.

If yes, the numeric identifier for the following leaf is included in the folio. If no the numeric identifier is not included. The default is yes.

The prefix and number attributes are only meaningful in a full looseleaf partition that uses a section based numbering scheme.

The format of a full looseleaf link folio is declared as a partition property.

See “Deferred content commands” for restrictions that apply to the use of this command.

In a change pages or non-looseleaf partition, the value of the generated identifier is undefined.

The content of a link line is usually a single line message such as:

The next page is <link-folio/>

Page specific variables can be used to interrogate characteristics of the page in which the link line is rendered. The following example shows how to suppress the content of a link line that appears on a blank page:

<if var="page-side" target="blank" test="not-same" >
  <Title>The next page is <link-folio/></Title>
