Release management

A looseleaf partition is produced as a set of releases or updates . The initial mainwork release defines a baseline set of output pages for the entire document. Subsequent releases can be produced in the form of update packs that contain those pages modified in the release.

Each release is identified by a release label. This label can be included within a header or footer to indicate the currency of each page as the partition changes over time.

A release can be in one of two phases:

  • an initial or update phase, where the source material can be altered, and the content composed;

  • a published phase where the source material is locked for archiving and to form the starting point for the next release.
