Page Details

Data relating to the page as a whole is displayed on the Page tab on the right part of the window:

The Paper size drop-down sets the total size of the page. Selecting a value from this list sets the values displayed in the Width and Height fields. The list of paper sizes initially contains a number of standard sizes. See “Paper Sizes” for information on how to add additional paper sizes.

The Portrait and Landscape buttons allow you to select the orientation of the page.

The Double sided checkbox indicates whether the layout can vary between left and right pages. Tick this box if you want to vary the position, size and/or content of blocks depending on the page side.

[Note] Note

You can only change between single and double-sided mode when the automatic data layout option is selected.

For a double sided layout, you may choose from the following mirror options:

  • No mirror means that all dimensions are defined in terms of left, right, top and bottom measurements.

  • When Mirror left/right is selected the left and right measurements are replaced by inside and outside. The inside measurement is the one closest to where the pages would join if they were arranged as a book. The main advantage of using mirrored measurement is that it is easy to ensure that regions match up when they are printed on opposite sides of a leaf.

  • The Mirror top/bottom option is like left/right mirroring, but replaces top and bottom with inside and outside. Note that when this option is in effect the pages will be displayed vertically, but still referred to as left (displayed above) and right (displayed below). The pages are treated as if they are bound as a portrait book and rotated 90° clockwise.

The Template drop-down allows you to select another page type to be used as a template for this page type. The list will show all other page types in the layout that use the same paper size and do not have a template themselves. Select the blank item in the list to remove a template. This field is disabled for a page type that is being used as a template, since only one level of inheritance is allowed. See “Templates” for more information.

The Followed by drop-down allows you to select another page type that will be used after this one. The list will only show page types with the same data width as this page type (in other words, data blocks with the same width). If page type A is followed by page type B, then when A is selected a single page will be composed using A and all following pages will use B.

The Auto rotate field is used if this page type is used as a template for another page type with a different orientation (portrait vs. landscape). To switch the orientation requires a rotation of 90°; this field allows you to select if the rotation is clockwise or anti-clockwise. See “Templates” for more information about template rotation.

Below the page data fields are tabs which allow you to define the print area (described in “Page type Display”), the crop area (see “The Crop Area”) and the difference area (see “The Difference Area”).
